The Idea
For this project (college assignment), I created a scenario based on an “imaginary” company offering professional development courses to its clients. According to the scenario, the company approached me to design an effective training program tailored to their corporate clients. The goal was to develop an introductory course that would provide a solid foundation for businesses in various growth stages.
Course Features
These are some of the elements I incorporated into the course design, along with the justifications for their inclusion and the advantages they offer.
The Choice of Elements: Colours and Visuals
Title Page
At the start of the project, I made sure to follow the client’s brand guidelines closely, designing a course template that matched their identity and overall style. This helped ensure that the look and feel of the course were in line with their company values.
I also selected images that really focused on teamwork and growth, aiming to reflect a positive company culture. The visuals were chosen to not only support the course content but also create a sense of connection for learners, emphasizing collaboration and development within a professional setting.
Accessibility and functionality
To prioritize both interactivity and accessibility, I designed an instruction slide that works seamlessly for all users. It allows navigation either by hovering or using the keyboard, ensuring a more inclusive experience for everyone, regardless of their preferred input method.
the content
Why does this course work?
Strategy: As this is an introductory course in the Corporate Training Series, I applied the What-Why-Why chunking strategy to break down complex information into digestible segments. By keeping the content concise yet impactful, I set the foundation for more in-depth topics in future courses.
Engagement: Right from the start, I incorporated various interactions, including gamified elements, to capture learners’ attention and keep them engaged throughout the course. Before the assessment section, I used an instructional video with closed captions instead of text-based instructions, offering a more dynamic and inclusive way to prepare learners.
Results: To support learners in reflecting on their progress, the data gathered from the assessment is complemented by an LMS discussion feature, where participants can engage in self-reflection, adding an additional layer of learning and growth.
